"Ashes" completes the conceptual trilogy, which also includes the albums "Starthrone" and "To Keep The Flame Burning".

The project’s new album absorbed and developed the basic ideas of previous works of M42: guitars just add some unobtrusive touches to the monumentality of this symphonic canvas, and orchestral arrangements took their leading position.
The scale of this music came close to the cosmic one. So, now it can be stated with complete confidence, that NEBULA ORIONIS plays the real cinematic cosmic metal!

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity. The debut release from one of the better clandestine atmospheric black metal projects around. The performance and sound on ‘Aftermath’ is not as polished or dynamic as his future releases, however it is still a solid presentation. 7/10 RJ
